Hi Greg,

What account are you using when running the "fltmc load" command? Did you open a command prompt using "Run as administrator"?

Hi, I tried to edit a file on my Win 7 Ultimate x64 drive that is outside my user directory and discovered that I don't have access to anything outside of my user directory. (I only have an Administrator login on this computer.) I tried many solutions to this problem I found on the web which worked for others, but not me. I always get "Access is denied." I installed AccessGain and rebooted with driver signature enforcement disabled, but when I run "fltmc load AccessGainDriver" I get "Load failed with error: 0x80070005" \n "Access is denied." I cannot imagine what is wrong. I can still create a folder as long as it is within my Users directory. My goal has become to give my administrator login Full Control access to everything on my boot drive, ultimately without without disabling UAC--but any way would be fine right now. Any ideas?

F12 will get you into the BIOS. Your computer goes through multiple steps before starting Windows:

1. BIOS <- if you press F12 at this point you will stop here and get into the BIOS setup.
2. boot loader <- if you press F8 you will get into that menu I was telling you about
3. Windows is loading

Try waiting to get past step 1 (the screen which tells you about F12 to get into the BIOS) and pressing F8 before you see Windows loading. Let me know if this helped.

I tried F8 but it didn't give anything. All that appears are F12 for selecting boot device and delete to enter setup. I'll look again.

This happens because the driver is not digitally signed. We plan on releasing a better version in the future which will also include a digitally signed driver.

Did you try pressing F8 key when booting Windows? A menu should appear. Select "Disable driver signature enforcement" from that menu. Then log into Windows, try loading the AccessGain driver again and please let me know if that worked for you.

Ok - after I wrote that I saw I hadn't uncompressed the file. It gave me the option to install afterwards so I selected it. bcdedit said it was successful but after i do fltmc load accessgaindriver I get this error "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file. . .". I really want this to work - I have fought with these stupid permissions too long!

win 7-64bit - I've disabled signature verification and then try to select install with a right click on accgain but "install" is not an option on the pulldown. All there is is "open, cut, copy, delete, and properties". What am I missing?

@ Marvin,

Of course it can be disabled. Just boot as normal and voila! You can even delete the files if you want. It;s only enabled if you boot as "disable driver signature enforcement" or the like. Also, unbind it from your hdd, if you want.

Let's see what the admin has to say about it...

I like the idea of this but I do have concerns.
1- Is it permanant? i.e. can it be used by others to breach the security of this, my brand new computer with win 7 home prem.?
2- I have added my other HDD (320G) with XP Pro sp3 as an "additional" storage device, but would like to access ALL the info I have put on it. I do not want to jeprodise (sp?) the new op system.
3- I am the ONLY user on this computer, therefor are there items that I should do before running this program. I sign in at/after boot.
I really don't want to mess up this computer by inadvertantly changing "defaults" that at the present seem to make this one work so effortlessly and quickly and seemingly stable.
I'm not real bad at getting around and have done a lot since 3.1. I've put together and modified many other computers and have run into quite a few good times and problems since. Good ole DOS , those were the days!
I've taken courses years ago in Basic programing, but that's it as far as languages.
Does this come with detailed instructions?
Thanks, mjw
